Dear Friends,
File under "Shearwater-adjacent": After a long wait, the third Loma album, How Will I Live Without A Body?, is available today for pre-order from Sub Pop Records.

I'm really proud of this record. It's dreamy and enveloping, and took us places we never thought we would go. We recorded it over the past two years in Texas, NYC, Germany, and the UK.
As usual with Loma, we wrote the music together—though I wrote a hefty chunk of the lyrics.
There's also a beautiful video, directed by our singer Emily Cross, for the first single "How It Starts" (which can be found in the link). It has a surprise ending, which should answer any questions about touring in the near term.
Other than this, I'm busy as ever. There'll be some real Shearwater news soon—and I'm still working on a new book about the once and future life of Antarctica.
I hope this finds you well, wherever you may be—and all the very best to you and yours. JM ... See MoreSee Less

As a perk for Patreon subscribers, JM has been releasing a monthly “Mangled Classic” in which he performs a cover in one take, usually just solo on guitar. Since he has been doing this for a few years, we’ve decided to release older MCs on YouTube so non-Patreons can see them.
This month’s archival MC is “Runeii” by Talk Talk. See the full cover on our YouTube channel: youtu.be/cmK-1AS7XkE?si=oDmSxobeBdG8cygO
Thanks so much for your support as always. We’ve got a few things cooking that we can’t wait to share with you. ... See MoreSee Less

So I learned today that the Japanese version of A Most Remarkable Creature is now listed on the publisher's web site. [Seidosha.co.jp]. !!!
Besides feeling generally amazed at this, the thought of translator Tomoyuki Matoba (@tama_lion) taking the time and care to work through every word of my book is overwhelming. I feel dumbstruck with gratitude. (JM) ... See MoreSee Less
